5 Easy Ways To Get More Veggies

Aug 08, 2022

Show of hands, who loves veggies?

I don't know... does anyone actually love veggies? Jury is still out on that one!

When it comes to our health, we can argue a lot about what's healthy and what's not. But one thing everyone can agree on is this:

We all need more veggies in our life.

Right now in my business, I am taking my clients through my Gut Health Mentorship. One of the biggest hurdles for a lot of them is getting the veggies in. Specifically, getting 30 different plants in a week.

Can you think of 30 plants that you enjoy eating?

ā£So why are veggies so important and why is a good selection of different vegetables a really good idea?ā£

1. Fiberā£

2. Macro Nutrientsā£

3. Micro Nutrientsā£

ā£Our body needs all of these things to not only survive but to THRIVE too!

ā£Don't you think it’s funny that we’ll spend hours searching for a pill that gives us nutrients while completely dismissing how easy it is to get those nutrients by increasing our veggies!?

Keep reading to learn 5 easy ways to get more veggies into your diet.

1. Cook Them

Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of boiled brussel sprouts, and soggy zucchini (sorry Mom)!

Level up your cooked veggies roasting, grilling, sautéing or air frying.

Trust.

2. Good Fats

My friends, please make it known that fat is not the enemy.

Pick a healthy fat and toss those beautiful veggies up. This will level up the enjoyment and is an excellent way of making you feel more full.

3. Salt

If you have Netflix, I need you to watch the series Salt, Acid, Fat & Heat. Then you’ll understand how salt completely changes the veggies game.

Sea Salt or Himalayan is best. Avoid table salt (that's what makes your tissue retain water).

4. Spices and Herbs

You can make veggies taste completely different by using different spice & herbs. Veggies don’t have to be drowning in cheese sauce to be good…

Have fun with spices, try different combinations (I love some of the awesome Epicure blends)ā£.

 5. Hide Them

If all else fails, just hide them. I get it...

One of my favourite ways to get some veggies into my day is adding them to my smoothie. 1 cup of frozen zucchini or spinach and 1 cup of frozen riced cauliflower - try it you’ll never know it’s there!ā£
