Intermittent Fasting... the new cool kid in town!
It's all we are hearing about both on and offline right now and I have the lowdown for you.
To be completely honest, I resisted Intermittent Fasting BIG TIME!
I didn't want to start another thing. All I wanted was to DITCH DIETS forever!
I was SO sick of measuring food, prepping for hours, restricting myself and still not seeing the results that I was after. At this point in my life it was about having a sustainable lifestyle that included a healthy weight, a strong body and enjoying myself!
I wasn't a stranger to Intermittent Fasting either, I'd tried it before when all I cared about was 6-pack abs and what I looked like in a bikini. I didn't have much luck.
Unfortunately I had never learned how to do it properly, and set out on my own which only wound up making me feel like I was just starving myself day in and day out - painfully checking the clock to see when my time was up and then proceeding to diving into any food I could find.
I didn't lose weight, I actually gained.
So when I started hearing about Intermittent Fasting again almost a year ago from a family member, I RESISTED it big time. I thought she was crazy and didn't want to hear a thing about it.
However over the next 4ish months she dove in, and the RESULTS were TO GOOD for me to ignore any longer!
My Aunt was feeling a lot of the same things that I was...
Unexplained weight gain
Uncontrollable cravings and more.
So as I started to see her results and HEAR her say things like "This is the easiest thing I've ever done...I never think about food anymore...there is no measuring, no stress."...
I was INTRIGUED!
I dug in.
I've spent COUNTLESS HOURS reading, researching, watching videos, taking mini courses and IMPLEMENTING Intermittent Fasting into my way of life and it's been INCREDIBLE!
As I slowly started to implement Intermittent Fasting into my life again this is what I started to notice.
I had MORE ENERGY.
Brain fog was LIFTED.
My constant bloating and inflammation dissipated.
I lost 8lbs of FLUFF that I had been fighting for a year and a half.
I was all of a sudden sleeping through the night more soundly.
At first it seemed to good to be true, but I kept at it!
Now I am eating foods that I know are BEST for my body, committing to clean fasting and figuring out a fasting schedule that works best for me and my lifestyle and the results just keep getting better and better.
At 46 I feel BETTER than I have in years!
I now know why my body has been fighting me for so long, I realize that the constant FEEDING my body small meals was keeping my insulin spiked and it had no time to REST and DIGEST the foods that I was giving it properly.
And before you go off to Google search "How To Start Intermittent Fasting", I wanted to leave you with 3 TIPS for getting started with Intermittent Fasting. It's so simple to implement when you do it this way!
1. Start Slow
Truthfully, you can do so much benefit to your body by letting it rest from food for just 12 hours. Maybe that just means not eating anything after you finish your dinner and pushing off your breakfast until a bit later in the day.
To start, your fast could look something like stopping eating at 7pm and then eating again at 11am the next day.
2. Clean Fast
This was the GAME CHANGER for me. It's why I failed miserably the first time around. Make sure you clean fast during your fasting window. This tip has made Intermittent Fasting a breeze for both myself and my clients.
3. Find A Community
There is MAGIC in support and not going it alone! I was so glad that my Aunt was there to answer my questions and steer me in the right direction, and then soon after I dug in, a good friend started with me and I could help her.
Now I have a community FULL of women who are implementing Intermittent Fasting and a healthy sustainable way of living, together.
